The 4F Study: Prebiolax™ Leading the Way for Better Aged Care Health

We're thrilled to announce that Prebiolax, our tasteless, commercially available fibre supplement, is being trialed in a new feasibility study: "The 4F Study - Fibre-Fortified Foods & Fluids for Aged Residential Care (ARC) in Aotearoa New Zealand."

Led by Professor Drs. Sue MacDonell & Leigh O’Brien from the Department of Nutrition & Dietetics at Waipapa Taumata Rau University of Auckland, this important study will investigate how Prebiolax can improve dietary fibre intake for people living in aged care.

It's well-known that residents in aged care often have low fibre intake. Prebiolax can be easily mixed into various foods and beverages like soups and yogurts without changing their taste or consistency, making it a simple solution to boost fibre.

Over six weeks, the study will assess changes in bowel function and comfort, as well as the acceptability and feasibility of using Prebiolax in aged care facilities. The results will be crucial in guiding future strategies to increase fibre intake and potentially reduce laxative use among the elderly in New Zealand.

We're excited to see the positive impact this study could have on the health and comfort of aged care residents!
